Christopher Luna-Mega

For almost a decade, Christopher Luna-Mega has been fascinated by the sonic patterns found in various environments and their translation into notated music. His practice is based on focused listening, field recording, sound analysis, performance strategies, and collaboration with musicians, artists, and scientists. The resulting music is a creative embodiment of natural logic. To achieve this, Luna-Mega created a methodology for recording, analyzing, musically notating, and performing environmental sounds with the assistance of computer technologies. The pieces included in this album are the culmination of this work. Luna-Mega’s music has been performed in North America, Europe, and Asia by orchestras, ensembles and musicians such as the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Iceland Symphony Orchestra, Montreal-Toronto Art Orchestra, Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional (Mexico), Yarn|Wire, Gianni Trovalusci, and The Luna Ensemble, among others. The New York City Electroacoustic Music Festival, Seoul International Computer Music Festival (Gwanju), AngelicA (Bologna), Tectonics (Reykjavik), Tectonics (Glasgow), L’Off (Montréal), Avant X (Toronto), and CMMR Conference (Marseille) are some of the festivals and conferences that have featured his music.
