Michael Janz (aka – janzie) is an experimental composer, sound artist, and performer from Los Angeles, CA. His work spans many genres, including experimental electronic, process music, art song, solo piano, spectral serialism, installation sound art, and field recording. Having had the pleasure of a diverse career, he has had compositions performed throughout the U.S. and abroad and has toured internationally with pop-electronic act The New Division.

Over the past several years, janzie’s compositional interests have led to a unique brand of 'post-human music.' His approach seeks to redefine the separation between the natural and human worlds by imagining systems that fully integrate environmental soundscapes, live performance, and contemporary technology. Janzie’s music and art aim to explore what intelligence can emerge from these new systems – systems that intentionally blur the lines between human and nature, nature and technology, and technology and human. Janzie currently lives in Altadena, CA, with his wife and fellow artist, Brooke Lohman, and three cats, Frederic, Felix, and Lili.
